Working Dog Diary

Chapter 138: Ty Junior

I don't usually make a diary entry out of just photos, but it's a special occasion. An email friend from Wisconsin, the artist Jennifer Curtin, offered to make a wooden sculpture of Ty for me, and it came in the mail a couple days ago. The pictures don't really do it justice. Ty Junior is only about three inches tall, but he has a lot of personality, and Jen has captured some essence of Big Ty, his solid masculine presence.

Jen is an Australian Cattle Dog person who carves all herding breeds in herding poses with livestock. She also makes clever "herding sets" with a handler, sheep, and dog, either freestanding or with magnets so they can be moved around a whiteboard, perfect for clinician and herding teacher lectures. Her website is called Cowdog Art. Thanks, Jen! Bonnie's next!
