ASCA stock dog for sale: Piper comes from excellent working dogs, Hangin’ Tree and Slash V lines. He’s 4 yrs old, neutered, blue merle with copper trim, brown eyes, has 5 months professional sheepdog training and 2+ yrs of on-farm use. Can load trailers, chutes, gather, push, help catch and hold an individual animal. Doesn’t intimidate even if he gets head-butted. Plenty of grip.
He was started on cattle as a 1 yr old, he has only ever worked sheep for us but I know he enjoys cattle too, he always looks hopeful when passing our neighbor’s cattle pasture. Has a good Down, Come by, Away, Walk up, and Steady. Plenty of speed and leg for an outrun. Nothing more refined than that, needs a strong handler to keep him in line, his tendency is to push the stock too hard and bust up the flock. But that’s really my fault, not his. Videos linked below. He’s a much better dog than I am a handler. Has good house manners- waits to go through a gate or door for the command ‘Through’; Get Back and Out are also in his vocabulary. Tidy in the house, accustomed to crates, loads up in a truck, clears a fence only when invited.
An excellent surrogate parent for bottle lambs, lambs follow him and he treats them as his babies. Also loves to dogsled, hike, swim, could do dock-diving, strong ball drive, has an off-switch so an easy companion, loves kids, friendly with strangers, no nipping tendencies towards humans, has a sense of humor, not obsessive about work. For sale, $1500. If he didn’t work for you we’d gladly take him back, we want a great home for this first-class dog.
